Hey there everyone!
Today we will be talking about the other areas which surrounds the Bhawan and those are The Nehru Planetarium, Kushk Mahal and Nehru Memorial Library. So we were given two weeks for the research and the Planetarium was found out to be very fascinating if not more.
The Planetarium is like the absolute favourite among the kids and as for the adults the Bhawan and Library are the ones which attract them the most.
But lets start to talk about the museum first. As we go inside the museum the entrance has five big arches and armed guards and also some security. The colour of the house is off-white towards yellowish in colour and has our Indian flag on top.
The place is constantly cleaned by the maintenance staff without any fail, like almost 4-5 times a day. Apparently the visitors are given given free guides (if one asks for it) and NO ENTRY CHARGES which makes it the only governmental building to do so. So thats one of the reasons one should visit this place. You are given free brocher to read with good amount of information.
As we go inside the museum we see the display starting from the birth and forefathers of Jawaharlal Nehru. This thing goes on till the second floor gallery.
As we see the display the place gives you the feel of British ambience because of the CURVED WOODEN ARCHES, HIGH CEILINGS, DARK MAHOGANY FURNITURE, WOODEN DISPLAY WALLS, RAILINGS etc etc... changes regarding the architecture of the building inside as well as outside but the restoring process never stops here.

NEHRU PLANETARIUM
Now coming to the famous planetarium which has display system on the outside with fun games and quizes (which may sometimes not work well) and loads of information starting right from how the early centuries people of india interpreted the sky and other celestial bodies and constellations to the first Indian who went to the moon. The place also gives a fair idea on how ambitious and interested Mr. Nehru was to take our country to that level of intelligence and technology where no other country have reached before. He was thoroughly interested in making it advance in science and invested a lot of his time and brought new programmes specially in Chandigarh with a vision of an new India in his eyes.
Okay... coming to the auditorium where there are four shows held every day starting at 9 in the morning and ending at 5:30 in the evening. The shows are held in two languages one in Hindi and the other one in English. The cost of the ticket is 50 Rs. per adult and Rs. 20 per child (4-12 yrs) and Rs. 30 for school children.
It is the name given to 5 planetariums in India, named after India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. These are located in Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune and Bangalore, plus there is a Jawahar Planetarium in Allahabad. Nehru Planetarium in Pune was the first one in Asia, established in 1954.
The Nehru Planetarium in New Delhi is situated on the grounds of Teen Murti Bhavan, officially known as 'Nehru Memorial Museum and Library', earlier the official residence of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru and now a museum in his memory. In 1964, the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund was set up to promote his ideas and it undertook to build the Nehru Planetarium with its aim being the promotion of astronomy education. This planetarium, like its namesake in Mumbai, was also inaugurated by Smt. Indira Gandhi on 6 February 1984. One of the major attractions of this place is the Soyuz T-10 which carried India’s first cosmonaut Rakesh Sharma to space, along with his space suit and mission journal.
The Sky Theatre shown at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium are very popular and attract about more than 200,000 visitors per year. The sky theatre is a dome shaped theatre . It shows information on constellations, planets . Visuals such as Cartoons, Paintings, Computer animations, video clippings and special effects are liberally used in the programmes at the sky theatre.
The planetarium was reopened in September 2010, after renovations worth Rs. 11 crore, ahead of the 2010 Commonwealth Games and received Queen's Baton. It now has 'Definiti optical star projector “Megastar” that can show 2 million stars. It also sets up old telescopes, projection boxes and solar filters at its premises at major Solar eclipses.
